From September 20–22, 2013, I had the opportunity to be involved in Exposition Chicago, the International Exposition of Contemporary & Modern Art. It was three busy, fast-paced, and exhilarating days of helping a major art show run without a hitch. I am so fortunate to have happened across this organization, because the Expo staff was a joy to work with and I loved helping make their jobs easier.
From the show office I answered the phone, gave patrons specific special event information, and personally ensured that exhibitors found everything that they needed for a successful run.
At will call, I made sure that VIPs got all of their tickets and important information, directed patrons to locations of specific galleries, and helped stock inventory of exhibition catalogs and brochures.
On the floor, I was there to help patrons navigate the enormous exhibition floor, answer questions from visitors, and help deliver art works to their various gallery locations.
After working at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, my appreciation and understanding of visual art grew immensely. Working with Expo Chicago was another side of the art world to discover, and it was wonderful to be a part of it.
